Waitangi Day
Learning Intention:To Research Our Perspectives On Waitangi Day
Today's blog post is about understanding and researching different peoples perspectives on Waitangi Day,for those who doesn't know the background story about waitangi then hopefully my story doesn't bore you.Three interesting facts of Waitangi day to me in my opinion is 1.Waitangi is a day of celebration of the singing of the treaty,2.The treaty of Waitangi day was signed in the early 1840 century 6th of February,3.The treaty was known to be signed by Captain William Hobson, serval English residents and between 43 to 46 Māori rangatira.
Two different points of views of Waitangi day is that people see Waitangi day as a day off,but our people see it as a celebration of our history. Why does people have different perspectives of Waitangi? In my opinion people have different perspectives because they have bitter and different understandings of Waitangi day like for example people think because its a holiday its a day for a day off or a holiday, people need more understanding and education of Waitangi and every other history event celebrated up to this day.
To me and my people the Te Tiriti O Waitangi is a day celebration and history of the signing of the treaty,it is important to learn and be fully educated and have a better understanding to important history. To be honest people may consider Waitangi just as a holiday but to me its a day of celebration of history.
